Workshop zur Wachskonservierung und -restaurierung in Bologna

Unsere Konservatorinnen-Restauratorinnen Sabina Carraro und Johanna Stierlin leiteten im Oktober 2025 an der Universität Bologna einen Workshop zum Thema La Riscoperta della Ceroplastica Anatomica a Bologna: Un Dialogo Internazionale tra Arte, Scienza, Tecnologia e Restauro. Im Mittelpunkt stand der fachgerechte Umgang mit anatomischen Wachsmodellen in Sammlungen und in der Lehre sowie deren Konservierung und Restaurierung.
Der Workshop fand in der renommierten Sammlung anatomischer Wachsmodelle «Luigi Cattaneo» an der Universität Bologna statt und bot Raum für einen spannenden internationalen Austausch mit Diskussionen und praktischen Übungen.
Anschliessend an den Workshop hielten Sabina Carraro und Johanna Stierlin im Rahmen der öffentlichen Veranstaltung zum Thema Wachs an der Fondazione Golinelli in Bologna einen Vortrag und luden danach Schülerinnen und Schüler zu einem spannenden Workshop zum Thema der Herstellung und Erhaltung von Wachsmodellen und Moulagen ein.

Workshop on wax conservation and restoration in Bologna
In October 2025, our conservators-restorers Sabina Carraro and Johanna Stierlin led a workshop at the University of Bologna titled La Riscoperta della Ceroplastica Anatomica a Bologna: Un Dialogo Internazionale tra Arte, Scienza, Tecnologia e Restauro. The focus was on the professional handling of anatomical wax models in collections and in teaching, as well as their conservation and restoration.
The workshop took place in the renowned Luigi Cattaneo collection of anatomical wax models at the University of Bologna and provided an opportunity for exciting international exchange with discussions and practical exercises.
Following the workshop, Sabina Carraro and Johanna Stierlin gave a lecture as part of a public event on the subject of wax at the Fondazione Golinelli in Bologna, after which they invited schoolchildren to an exciting workshop on the production and preservation of wax models and moulages.
